So, do goldfish really forget everything after just a few seconds? The answer may surprise you. Scientists have studied goldfish for many years, and the evidence suggests that their memory is much better than most people think. In several experiments, goldfish learned how to find food, recognize signals, and even remember simple routines. Studies have shown known that goldfish can remember information for weeks or even months.

So where did the 3second myth come from? No one knows for sure, but experts believe it may have started as a misunderstanding that was repeated so many times that people accepted it as fact. Goldfish may not be geniuses, but they are capable of Learning from experience. For example, many goldfish can learn when feeding time is approaching. Some even recognize the person who regularly feeds them. This ability requires memory. Without memory, learning would be impossible.

Interestingly, goldfish are not the only animals that are often underestimated. Many animals have cognitive abilities that surprise researchers. Some birds can solve puzzles.
